GreenTRAP™ NOVA-Series - Technology

The GreenTRAP™ NOVA-Series system registers and measures various engine and system components in order to determine exactly when to activate the regeneration procedure. Regeneration is activated by injecting a precise amount of diesel fuel into the exhaust line which is then oxidized by a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC). The exothermic reaction within the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) raises the exhaust temperature to the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration criterion level. The heated exhaust gas oxidizes the Particulate Matter (PM) accumulated on the particulate filter monolith. The estimated volume of soot trapped within the filter is calculated based upon the exhaust flow, engine load, back pressure, exhaust temperature, and the Soot Load Index (SLI). The GreenTRAP™ NOVA-Series Active Diesel Particulate Filter (ADPF) system features smart back-pressure temperature profiling and regeneration monitoring. Using the SLI the soot load of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system can be calculated under all operating conditions. The complex calculations of the SLI are based on the pressure drop over the filter system compared to the exhaust gas flow through it. The dashboard indicator displays the current SLI. The GreenTRAP™ NOVA-Series Active Diesel Particulate Filter (ADPF) system monitors the thermal counter which measures the temperature from the system’s exhaust inlet. Built-in safety features may halt regeneration based on factors such as vehicle speed, soot overload, and temperature. In the event of a malfunction, the ECU will indicate the existence of a problem to the operator via the dashboard indicator.

GreenTRAP™ NOVA-Series - Performance

The Particulate Matter (PM) filtration efficiency of the Active Diesel Particulate Filter (ADPF) typically is reduced by 95%. Due to the presence of a precious metals catalyst, the filter typically reduces 70-90% (depending on exhaust temperature) of Hydrocarbon (HC) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) emissions. There is no NO2 increase due to a special catalyst formulation. Typical exhaust gas pressure drop on an Active Diesel Particulate Filter (ADPF) system is between 7.5 and 15 kPa (30-50 in H2O).

GreenTRAP™ NOVA-Series - Designs and Options

GreenTRAP™ NOVA-Series systems are primarily used with light and medium-duty applications which typically require an OE muffler replacement design due to limited available space. Most designs are under-hood, retaining the equipment's factory appearance and operator sightlines.

Universal-fit designs are also available for applications with a suitable mounting location. Standard sizes and power ratings are shown below. Sizing for particular engines and applications should be consulted with our office before ordering.
