A Passive Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or GreenTRAP™ is an exhaust aftertreatment system designed to capture and reduce diesel particulate matter (PM) from stationary diesel generators. Using wall-flow filtration technology, the filter traps soot particles while allowing clean exhaust gases to pass through. Under suitable operating temperatures, accumulated soot is continuously oxidized through passive regeneration, providing reliable particulate emissions control without external heating.

As exhaust gases flow through the wall-flow filter, particulate matter (PM) is captured inside the porous filter walls. During normal generator operation, the catalyst promotes passive regeneration by oxidizing the trapped soot whenever sufficient exhaust temperatures are available. This process continuously cleans the filter while maintaining low exhaust backpressure and reliable generator performance.

As diesel exhaust flows through the DPF, soot particles are captured within the porous filter walls while clean gases continue through the exhaust system. Under suitable operating conditions, the accumulated soot is oxidized through the regeneration process, restoring filter capacity and maintaining reliable generator performance.

A GreenTRAP™ or Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is designed primarily to reduce Particulate Matter (PM) and eliminate visible diesel smoke. Depending on the system configuration, it can also contribute to reductions in Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbons (HC), and Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), resulting in cleaner exhaust emissions.
