Senior Design/Development Engineer

 

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada – Hwy 401/403/410 area

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage design and development projects for engine exhaust emission control products from initial concept to production phase
  • Produce detailed design drawings and specifications for both manufactured and purchased components
  • Establish quality benchmarks, investigate product failures, and analyze specifications to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Maintain and enhance the company’s design database (PDM)
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible and compliant with production capabilities
  • Utilize product specifications and performance requirements to innovate designs that align with existing manufacturing capabilities
  • Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, guiding them in their professional development

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering required
  • At least 5 years of experience in a design or manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in sheet metal design and fabrication
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks
  • Strong grasp of modern engineering principles to enhance manufacturing process efficiency
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and team-oriented with strong multitasking abilities
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrable mechanical expertise with hands-on experience

 

Preferred Additional Competencies:

  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools like Converge
  • Background in industries such as forklift, construction equipment, gen-set, mining, diesel/LPG engines, automotive, exhaust systems, or manufacturing
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine operation, exhaust emission control production, tool and die design, and manufacturing automation
